The roos were dodged, the beer was guzzled, and we fired up the barbie to celebrate cause the iGPmanager oppo league had their opening round in Australia last night. I was in the rookie league. How’d it go? Let’s do a quick recap
Qualifying - My boy Daniel Galzckeckazasfrshjsbejfhjkjrnf or however his name is spelled went ahead and put the CWS02 (CarWithSauce 02) on pole for theteamwithsauce. S. Berlusconi nabbed second for Derpington Racing and P. Kalnins got third for R Saldanas Flying Green Monkeys.

Race - With clear skies and a forgiving surface, mediums and softs were the compounds to have. D. Galeczka took off and maintained his lead, but out of nowhere, T Ryan managed to snab second from 4th on the grid. Sadly he couldn’t keep this momentum as he tumbled down the order quite rapidly. Within a few laps it was clear that Galeczka wasn’t going to be touched, but an epic battle broke out for the top 5 spots. Berlusconi and Kalnins were joined by A. myer of Saab Scania AB GP and M Brundle for Alternate evolutions. These 5 would fight it out until the first round of stops.
A funny thing happened during the pit shennanigans. V Zaymidoroga for JPSpecial Racing managed to begin an almighty charge from the mid pack up to the front. And K Woloszanski of Prius Power Plus Racing........just sorta didn’t stop. The only one stopper, he was up to 2nd (and of course during one of my few moments of live-managing) before his one and only stop dropped him back to the midpack. He would’ve stayed there, if the last few laps didn’t completely bungle up the finishing order.
Let’s get two things clear -1) Galeczka walked away with the win. 2) Kalnins should’ve gotten second. But Kalnins, like quite a few others in the top 10, ended up with a fuel miscalculation and had to pit again on the very last lap to get to the finish. Zaymidoroga had worked his way up to a respectable third and ended up accepting the kind gift of second. Woloszanski’s Prius inherited fifth from it all. Brundle was in 4th for the entire final stint and the last lap splash n’ dash didn’t cost him position. Though looking at the gaps, Wolozanski was less than a second off his rear.

Afterthoughts: If you want to join us, it is far from a “too late” point. Development happens all season and only missing one race is nothing. As you can see, this is a hilariously fun league and way to kill som free time at work or at night. I barely live managed at all but my car is sorta an evolution of last season’s car. But I will probably get moved up into pro after this season so my team won’t stomp the rookies forever. Check out our league here -

Amazing write-up! I might have to work on my vocabulary and work on writing one or two post-race recaps for the Elite league to encourage more Oppos to join with us!

Fred’s Notebook: lol
Technical Director Jacob Anderson of the Green monkeys team had this to say after retrieving the FGM002 from Parc Ferme, “We have the pace we need to contend for the championship, but we have to get focused on race direction. Peter is excited to be on a team with aggressive potential.”
Peter Kalnins: “I’m a little disappointed in our tire and fuel strategy. I think our pace in quali caught everyone, including our our team off guard. I feel like we have a real shot at taking top points this season. Sauce Racing, although they had it easy today, have got another thing coming if they believe we are going to let them walk off with the championship.”
Chief Designer - Klara Muller: “We have made our intentions known, although we did not give the car full power today and have many updates coming to really get the most out of the FGM002.”

My boy Zaymidoroga definitely popped a few bottles after that race... surged from 7th to 3rd after protecting my tires for a while. THEN, Kalnins pulled the rookie mistake and pitted on the last lap. He came out of the pits ahead of me by an inch. But by then, I was determined to get around him, with his new tires and all. It wasn’t until the last 2 corners that I put Kalnins in submission and stole my 2nd place finish. What an awesome race.

I would love nothingmore than you to keep throwing wrenches at him on races when I’m not live managing.
